Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in human resources, Education, Industrial Psychology, Organisational Development, or a related field
- Recognition is given to Prior Learning and practical experience
- Preferred: Honours degree in Industrial Psychology, Organisational Development, or a related field
Experience needed to deliver the role seamlessly
- 5 - 7 years experience in Learning & Development, including 2+ years in a strategic or middle management role.
- Proven track record in managing SETA submissions (WSP/ATR) and working with accredited providers.
- Demonstrated success in designing and delivering impactful learning strategies.
- Hands-on experience with learning technologies and digital platforms.
- Solid understanding of South African skills development legislation and SETA frameworks.
- Awareness of trends in digital learning, adult education, and learning innovation.
- Knowledge of organisational development, talent management, and performance enablement.
- Experience navigating complex, multi-disciplinary environments and stakeholder groups.
Key duties & responsibilities of the role
Core Technical Delivery
- Design and deliver learning programmes using a blended approach (e-learning, virtual, classroom, on-the-job).
- Develop instructional content and learning pathways tailored to diverse employee segments and career stages.
- Implement and manage learning technologies (e.g., LMS platforms, digital learning tools) to enable scalable delivery.
- Facilitate leadership development, onboarding, compliance training, and functional capability programmes.
- Conduct training needs analyses and skills assessments to inform programme design.
- Collaborate with internal SMEs and external providers to ensure content relevance and quality.
- Drive innovation in learning through gamification, microlearning, and performance support tools.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of training data for internal dashboards and external compliance.
- Lead the automation of analytics processes to reduce manual effort and improve data accuracy and timeliness.
- Identify opportunities to streamline reporting workflows and implement scalable solutions using Excel, BI tools, and system integrations.
- Collaborate with IT, HRIS, and data teams to implement automation within existing systems and platforms.
- Ensure sustainability of automation solutions through documentation, training, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues related to automated data flows and reporting.
- Support the reporting and management of the Skills Development pillar of BBBEE, ensuring alignment with compliance and strategic workforce planning.
Business Management
- Lead the development and execution of the organisations learning and development strategy in alignment with business goals and talent priorities.
- Partner with senior leaders, HR Business Partners, and functional heads to identify capability gaps and design targeted learning interventions.
- Oversee the submission of the Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) and Annual Training Report (ATR) in line with SETA requirements.
- Manage relationships with external stakeholders including SETAs, training providers, and accreditation bodies.
- Facilitate internal stakeholder collaboration to support Individual Development Plans (IDPs), career development conversations, and succession planning.
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of learning programmes, using data and feedback to drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements related to training and development.
- Influence organisational culture by embedding learning into performance, leadership, and career development processes.
