Qualifications

Our client in the Financial Services industry is looking for a Labour Lawyer to join their team in Cape Town.

The ideal candidate will be an admitted attorney with a B in Law and / or LLB degree, with 4 to 6 years of post‑qualification experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert legal advice and guidance on all aspects of labour law within the financial services sector.
  • Advise the business on employment disputes, including disciplinary matters, dismissals, and other related issues.
  • Draft and review employment contracts, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with legal standards.
  • Represent the company in negotiations and hearings related to labour matters.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant labour laws, including the Basic Conditions of Employment Act and the Labour Relations Act.
  • Collaborate with other departments to manage and mitigate employment‑related risks.
  • Stay updated on changes in labour law and ensure the company’s policies remain compliant.
Experience and Qualifications
  • Admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
  • B. Com in Law and / or LLB degree.
  • 4-6 years of post‑qualification experience in labour law.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Sharia law.
  • Experience in labour law matters in the financial services industry is preferred.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and drafting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
