Hire Resolve, a leading recruitment agency, is currently seeking a Junior Health & Safety Officer to join an IT company based in Roodepoort, Gauteng.

As a Junior Health & Safety Officer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and implementing effective safety management systems within the company. You will work closely with the Risk and Safety Officer to identify and mitigate risks, conduct inspections, and support the maintenance of a safe working environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the implementation of health and safety systems across all sites
  • Perform inspections and spot checks of fire fighting and detection equipment
  • Support the development and implementation of health and safety management systems
  • Identify and evaluate risks and develop safe work procedures
  • Record and investigate accidents, provide guidance, and ensure proper reporting
  • Provide feedback in safety meetings and follow up on health and safety inspections
  • Conduct audits and inspections on contractors
  • Provide informal health and safety training to employees
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety statutory requirements
  • Responsible for site induction programmes for employees, contractors, and visitors

Requirements:

  • Relevant qualification in health and safety (advantageous)
  • Minimum 3 years of general health and safety experience
  • Experience in an FMCG environment (recommended)
  • Computer literacy (MS Office Suite)
  • Good knowledge of health and safety regulations
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
