IT Infrastructure Manager required in Bellville.

The business offers investment, insurance, and wealth-related services, supporting a large national client base through secure, high-availability digital platforms.

The IT Infrastructure Manager is responsible for the strategic planning, implementation, and operational management of a hybrid IT infrastructure environment. This includes on-premises and cloud platforms, ensuring high availability, performance, scalability, security, and continuity across business-critical systems.
The role provides technical leadership, oversees infrastructure operations, and works closely with security, development, and governance teams to support enterprise requirements.
Location: Tygervalley, Cape Town.
Salary: R1 250 000 per annum.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
- 8+ years’ experience in IT infrastructure, including at least 5 years in a leadership role
- Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect or Administrator
- Aruba Switching certification
- Red Hat or equivalent Linux certification
- Hybrid cloud environments, Microsoft Azure, and Microsoft 365
- HP servers, SAN storage, and Fibre Channel technologies
- Windows and Linux operating systems
- Hyper-V and clustered environments, including SQL Server failover clusters
- Networking technologies (LAN, WAN, VPN, TCP/IP)
- Scripting and automation (PowerShell, Bash, Python)
- DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and container platforms

Duties and Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Strategy and Planning
- Develop and maintain an infrastructure roadmap aligned to business objectives
- Lead infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and capacity planning initiatives
- Evaluate and recommend technologies to improve efficiency, resilience, and scalability
- Hybrid Environment Management
- Manage Windows and Linux server environments across on-premises and Microsoft Azure platforms
- Ensure seamless integration between cloud and on-prem environments
- Oversee virtualization, storage, and backup platforms
- Network and Connectivity
- Oversee core network infrastructure including switches, firewalls, and WAN/LAN connectivity
- Ensure performance, security, and redundancy across multiple sites
- Collaborate closely with security and firewall specialists
- Infrastructure Documentation
- Maintain accurate and current infrastructure landscape documentation
- Ensure alignment with CMDB standards and change management processes
- Support audits, troubleshooting, and future planning
- End-User Computing (Desktop Environment)
- Oversee procurement and lifecycle management of desktop hardware and peripherals
- Maintain accurate asset inventory and usage tracking
- Define standards for desktop configurations and user access
- Coordinate vendor warranties, replacements, and service agreements
- Security and Compliance
- Ensure infrastructure compliance with internal security policies and regulatory standards
- Support patching, firmware updates, and vulnerability remediation
- Work with information security teams on audits and risk mitigation
- Monitoring, Maintenance, and Lifecycle Management
- Oversee monitoring, alerting, and performance optimisation
- Plan and execute preventative maintenance and hardware refresh cycles
- Maintain accurate asset records in the CMDB
- Incident and Change Management
- Manage infrastructure incidents and service requests via JIRA Service Management
- Participate in CAB meetings and ensure compliant change execution
- Lead root cause analysis and post-incident reviews
- IT Continuity and Disaster Recovery
- Develop and maintain IT continuity and disaster recovery plans
- Define and support RTO and RPO requirements with business stakeholders
- Conduct regular DR testing, recovery drills, and failover simulations
- Cloud Integration and DevOps
- Design and manage CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployment
- Collaborate with development teams on infrastructure integration
- Implement cloud-native monitoring and automation solutions
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Provision infrastructure using Terraform, ARM templates, and Bicep
- Integrate IaC into CI/CD pipelines
- Maintain version control and documentation for infrastructure definitions
- Additional Operational Responsibilities
- Oversee internet connectivity and service providers
- Manage AV systems and telephony platforms, including VoIP and Teams integration
- Compile and manage infrastructure budgets and vendor invoices
- Lead and mentor infrastructure engineers and manage vendor relationships
