Job description

MRI Software is seeking an IT Director to join our team in Cape Town SA! This individual will be responsible for leading the daily functions of the SA region IT teams including Cloud engineering and operations, SA Application Administration and IT security operations as well as engagement with the Indian-based Network Operations Centre and international resources.

• In-country IT Leadership, and part of the IT Leadership team. Engaging with various Business and IT leaders as well as Product Development groups to build and support complete solutions and implement new services.
• Working with latest cloud technologies and with providers themselves to create and support cloud solutions for the MRI products and services
• Drive adoption and further the policies, SOP’s, and best practices of IT in the SA region
• Represent IT and InfoSec in SA (client/prospect calls, audits, etc.), and be an escalation point for the country
• Engage with the Indian IT Delivery Centre and its processes and align SA within the Global Business
• Work to enhance MRI’s Cloud IT Operations capabilities and improve operational processes
• Implement AI and Automation into the SA location and leverage with other AI initiatives within MRI
• Lead the team of IT professionals based in SA and work closely with the international teams

Essential Functions Include

• Expand a high performing team through staff development, recruiting, and retention to support growing business needs
• Direct management responsibilities for all in country IT team members. Working with SA, US and UK/EMEA leadership to ensure commonality of approach and recruitment as well as working with regional and global leadership for resource management and development
• Contribute vision and leadership consistent with the MRI’s IT strategic plans and objectives to deliver technology initiatives in support of the growth of the organization
• Own and drive IT projects within the country and accountable for delivery; prioritize work tasks and projects to ensure business priorities are met
• Optimizing solutions to improve performance, function, or costs
• Control budget through consolidation exercises such as acquisition synergies, partnership in negotiations with procurement, etc.
• Ensure security is the cornerstone of the designs, services, and implementations
• Partner with MRI product development teams and other departments to mature our operations and processes. Lead cross-departmental exercises to improve MRI Cloud offerings (availability, security, etc.)
• Be the IT representative for unique challenges and needs of the SA region within the broader IT leadership structure

Skills/Requirements

• 10 plus years’ experience within IT related technology field and 5 years’ experience managing an IT group or other relevant leadership experience
• Bachelor’s degree in related field; Masters preferred – and/or relevant qualification and/or relevant experience
• Leadership: Demonstrated ability to inspire a team to achieve great things
• Execution: Demonstrated ability to take concrete actions to deliver and inspire
• Polished skills in communication, leadership, planning, motivation, coaching and cross team collaboration
• Experience managing both on‑prem and cloud‑based infrastructure systems and services
• Excellent Documentation skills
• Collaborator with Problem Solving, ‘Can‑do’ Mindset and a client centric focus
• Understanding of the SDLC, Software and Database Deployment Methods, and Application Security Scanning Tools a plus
• Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud native systems and services a plus
• Experience with MS Office 365 and other business SaaS offerings a plus
• Kubernetes, AWS, Linux, MS SQL, and Docker experience a plu
