The role is responsible for achieving team performance targets, ensuring full regulatory compliance, and contributing to the organisations strategic objectives, financial growth, and market presence. The successful candidate will also serve as a Key Individual (KI), providing strategic oversight, ensuring strong governance and operational control, and upholding ethical and compliance standards in accordance with the FAIS Act, Board Notice of and all other applicable legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Service & Compliance: Ensure advice and services align with client needs, risk profiles, and regulatory requirements. Monitor client satisfaction and implement improvements where needed. Maintain up-to-date product knowledge and ensure team compliance with all legislation and standards.
- Stakeholder Management: Build strong working relationships with internal teams and external product providers. Collaborate across departments to support business objectives.
- Team Leadership & Performance: Lead, coach, and develop the sales team to meet performance targets. Set KPIs, monitor progress, and conduct regular performance reviews. Manage recruitment, onboarding, and retention of team members.
- Operational Excellence: Promote a culture of service excellence and operational efficiency. Oversee timely implementation of projects, systems, and processes. Manage costs and ensure alignment with organisational strategy.
- Strategic Contribution: Support culture-building and transformation initiatives. Use insights and feedback to drive improvements in team performance. Contribute to strategic, financial, and compliance objectives.
Qualifications
- Minimum Education Requirements: Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate NQF Level 6 or higher in Financial or Business-related field (essential)
- FAIS Key Individual competency: Categories 1.1, B1, and B2 (mandatory)
- RE1 Regulatory Exam: Class of Business: Long-Term Insurance and Short-Term Personal Lines
- Letter of confirmation: From the FSP & KI confirming capacity, ability, and decision‑making powers (as per FAIS requirements)
- Minimum Experience: 2 years experience managing an insurance sales team in financial / insurance services; 3 years relationship management experience within the financial or insurance sector; 5 years of sales experience with a proven track record in a high‑pressure environment.
- Additional Experience: Experience in home loans, estate agency, or bond origination will be an added advantage.
