Job summary

A medical facility in Pretoria is seeking a qualified Safety Officer for a 12-month contract. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with South African Occupational Health and Safety legislation, conduct risk assessments, deliver training, and liaise with stakeholders. A SAMTRAC/NEBOSH certificate and 3–5 years' experience in related fields are required. Market-related remuneration is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years' experience as a Safety Officer in construction, industrial, or medical facilities.
• Experience in conducting risk assessments and safety audits.
• Valid driver's licence and own transport.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain a site-specific Health and Safety Management System.
• Conduct baseline, issue-based, and continuous risk assessments.
• Deliver health and safety induction training and toolbox talks.
• Conduct regular inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
• Liaise with facility management and regulators on OHS compliance.
• Submit monthly safety reports and compliance documentation.
