Position Title: Head of Repair Engineering

A Snapshot of Your Day

Siemens Energy seeks a highly skilled repair engineering manager with extensive experience in both compressor and steam turbine operations and repair solutions. This role is critical in enhancing local manufacturing & repair capabilities and ensuring we meet the diverse needs of our customers. As the Head of Repair Engineering, you will leverage your expertise in turbo compressors and steam turbines to identify and drive innovative manufacturing & repair solutions through an expert team of engineers. You will collaborate with a dynamic team and engage with customers to deliver exceptional service.

How You’ll Make An Impact
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of turbo compressors and steam turbine components, elevating local capability in manufacturing and repairing these parts.
  • Drive the effective use of documentation management systems, ensuring compliance with authority limits when selecting and implementing manufacturing & repair solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues in the repair engineering & specialized repairs network and Product Competency Centres for compressors and steam turbines, fostering a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Compile detailed surveys on proposed manufacturing and repair processes, analyse and propose cutting-edge repair or manufacturing procedures for review and acceptance.
  • Ensure the engineering team is motivated and equipped to support the order management team with customer inquiries related to project planning and costing, delivering alignment with customer expectations and requirements.
  • Enable a close working relationship with service centre engineers to gather insights on customer equipment, providing repair or remanufacture recommendations.
  • Foster the further development of Digital Inspection Jackets and advanced inspection techniques, both in the service centre and field environments. Identify & evaluate new techniques to further advance the repair solutions offering.
  • Endorse the selection, develop, and qualification of specific repair solutions for projects, whether in the workshop or on customer sites. Support the development of implementation drawings and 3D models to affect these solutions.
  • Drive the expansion of complex manufacturing & repair capabilities at the Wadeville service centre, enhancing our service offerings to meet market demands. Ensure skills transfer & retention plans including succession planning are in place for sustainable business support.
  • Cultivate relationships with Product Competency Centres, other repair centers and service providers to develop and qualify new repair or manufacturing solutions, ensuring we remain at the forefront of industry advancements.
  • Analyse turbo-machinery process data to support modernization of manufacturing materials & methods enhancing operational efficiency and maintenance turnaround times.
  • Mentor and support the development of engineers in training, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Present recommended modernization offerings or investigation results for technical understanding and customer approvals.
What You Bring
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • At least 10 years of experience in rotating equipment, turbo machinery repairs and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawing standards, adept in the use of engineering drawing tools such as CAD and NX.
  • A minimum of 15 years in a turbo-machinery and repairs centre environment, with a strong focus on both steam turbine and compressor repairs.
  • Understanding manufacturing processes, material limitations and CNC manufacturing processes.
  • Responsible for a dynamic team consisting of highly experienced engineers, document controllers, draughtsmen, a technical trainer, and an engineer in training program with at least three young engineers at any given time.
  • Motivating this team and ensuring they have access to all the tools that will allow them to deliver world‑class state‑of‑the‑art repair solutions and customer support is a very high priority.
