Overview

The Head of Sales is responsible for leading and growing the South African sales operation supporting our UK Group company, while also playing a senior strategic role in shaping group sales performance across multiple business divisions.

This role carries full accountability for delivering agreed sales targets, building high-performing sales teams, and embedding scalable, compliant and commercially effective sales frameworks. The role requires a strong balance between strategic sales leadership and hands-on operational management within a high-volume contact centre environment.

Responsibilities
Strategic & Commercial Leadership
  • Develop and execute a sales strategy aligned to the UK Growth & Enablement roadmap and group commercial objectives.
  • Translate group growth plans into executable, measurable sales programmes across multiple business divisions.
  • Identify new revenue opportunities within the group portfolio, including cross-sell, upsell and retention-led sales models.
  • Provide commercial input into growth initiatives, proposals and performance reviews.
  • Own sales forecasting, budgeting, capacity planning and target setting in partnership with finance and operations.
Operational Sales Leadership
  • Lead the end-to-end South African sales operation, ensuring consistent delivery against volume, revenue, quality and compliance targets.
  • Design and embed scalable sales structures, including team design, leadership layers, performance management and incentive frameworks.
  • Drive productivity, conversion, and revenue per agent through effective sales methodology, dialler strategy, scripting and campaign optimisation.
  • Ensure all sales activity is compliant with UK regulatory standards and internal governance frameworks.
  • Oversee daily, weekly and monthly sales performance rhythms, ensuring strong use of MI, insights and corrective action.
People & Performance Management
  • Build, mentor and lead a high-performing sales leadership team across divisions.
  • Create a strong sales culture centred on accountability, ethical selling, customer outcomes and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with L&D to design and deliver world-class onboarding, product training and sales capability programmes.
  • Own succession planning and talent development within the sales function.
  • Drive engagement, retention and leadership capability within a competitive contact centre market.
Client & Stakeholder Management
  • Act as a senior operational and commercial interface to UK stakeholders and utility partners.
  • Lead sales performance reviews, QBRs and growth planning sessions with internal and client teams.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, Compliance, Marketing, Workforce and Finance to optimise sales delivery.
  • Represent the South African sales operation in group-level planning, transformation and growth initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years Senior Sales leadership experience within a contact centre, BPO or utilities environment.
  • Proven track record of delivering large-scale sales targets across multiple campaigns or business units.
  • Strong understanding of high-volume, regulated sales environments (preferably UK utilities, financial services or telecoms).
  • Demonstrated experience balancing strategic sales planning with hands-on operational leadership.
  • Advanced capability in performance analytics, forecasting and commercial reporting.
  • Experience leading multi-layered sales teams and senior managers.
Desirable
  • Experience working with UK clients or within offshore delivery models.
  • Exposure to multi-channel sales environments (voice, digital, retentions, inbound and outbound).
  • Formal sales leadership or commercial qualification
