Head of Business Development Issuer Services

Job Description

In this position you’ll be based in the Johannesburg office for a minimum of three days a week, with the flexibility to work from home for some of your working week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take the lead on the Future Client Program (FCP) within Issuer Services by engaging companies on Computershare’s issuer services and entity solutions offerings.
  • Develop the Entity Solutions practice in South Africa by understanding client needs and offering a range of governance advisory and managed services to domestic and international clients.
  • Collaborate with the Issuer Services and Entity Solutions global leadership teams to develop the business plan, service offering, client contracting arrangements, pricing strategy, quality controls, delivery processes, tools and materials.
  • Oversee business development activities locally to raise awareness of Computershare’s range of governance solutions, both internally and externally in the market.
  • Lead strategic planning for the Existing Client Portfolio (ECP) to maximise cross selling for Entity Solutions and Issuer services, suggesting ideas and opportunities to enhance revenue.
  • Work closely with other client teams (e.g. Investor Engagement, Share Plans) to identify opportunities with existing Computershare clients.
  • Keep abreast of activity and changes in the Co Sec, governance and share registry industry to ensure our sales activity is appropriately focused to deliver the best return on investment.
  • Manage and maintain sales pipeline, lead/support on client proposals and negotiate service contracts.

Other Key Skills Required For The Role Include
  • Governance services experience within a listed issuer environment at Group Company Secretary level or equivalent.
  • Experience within a Business Development and/or Client Management role within financial, governance or issuer services.
  • Expert communication skills and ability to influence and build effective relationships at all levels with clients and colleagues.
  • Business development and client contract negotiation skills.
  • Proven team leadership and coaching skills.
  • Resilient and composed under pressure, proactive, self-motivated, take ownership/responsibility for own work and work of others.
  • Excellent business, financial and risk management skills and the ability to think/act strategically and commercially whilst protecting the reputation of the company.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent, ideally with a relevant professional qualification (e.g. governance, legal or accounting profession).
  • Extensive experience of establishing, leading and growing a profitable Company Secretarial or similar business within professional services will be an advantage.
