Overview

A reputable group operating within the water sustainability sector is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join their finance team at group level. This half-day morning(in office) role will support a growing group of five entities. The successful candidate will ensure accurate financial records, manage full bookkeeping functions, and support compliance across multiple companies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the full bookkeeping function up to trial balance and balance sheet.
  • Maintain accurate records in Sage Accounting and Sage HR, ensuring timely reconciliations.
  • Oversee debtors and creditors, including onboarding, invoicing, reconciliations, and payments.
  • Manage payroll, statutory submissions (PAYE, UIF, SDL, EMP201, EMP501), and filing of supporting payroll documents.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns, corporate tax provisional and annual returns via SARS eFiling.
  • Support intercompany billing, reconciliations, and reporting across multiple entities.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register and insurance schedule.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, financial statements, and management packs.
  • Assist with year-end close, audit packs, and compliance with IFRS for SMEs.
  • Ensure all records are maintained on SharePoint in a structured and accessible format.
Minimum Requirements
  • Diploma or Degree (preferred) in Bookkeeping or Accounting.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a full-function bookkeeping role, ideally across multiple entities.
  • Proven ability to manage books to trial balance and balance sheet.
  • Experience with Sage Accounting and Sage HR; knowledge of Xero or QuickBooks advantageous.
  • Experience with SARS eFiling (VAT, EMP201, EMP501, corporate tax returns).
  • Knowledge of IFRS for SMEs advantageous.
  • Strong Excel, organisational, and communication skills.
  • High level of accuracy, confidentiality, and integrity.
