Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled Group Accountant to maintain accurate financial and tax reporting while managing and implementing robust accounting and reporting controls.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare annual financial statements for multiple entities and consolidated group statements.
  • Submit IT14s, provisional tax returns, and dividend tax returns via e-filing.
  • Reconcile and submit VAT and withholding tax returns for both South African and foreign entities.
  • Compile annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Review monthly bank reconciliations and process general journal entries.
  • Manage trial balances and perform consolidations for all reporting entities.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Perform month-end and year-end system closures.
  • Submit quarterly reporting packs and liaise with internal and external auditors.
  • Review and authorize payments on banking systems.
  • Develop, monitor, and implement internal accounting policies.
Qualifications & Experience
  • B Honours or Bachelor's degree in Accounting (B).
  • Articles advantageous.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in accounting / reporting roles.
  • Staff management experience.
  • Strong background in group reporting, taxation, and consolidation.
Technical Knowledge
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel) and a recognized accounting package.
  • Experience with Cognos, Business Central, and Draftworx advantageous.
