Our client is looking for a General Manager - Receiving to join their team in Pretoria West

Roles and Responsibilities

GENERAL MANAGER – RECEIVING (PRETORIA WEST)

Sector: Retail (Grocery)

Location: Pretoria West

Working Hours: Shift-based (early + late shifts, no overnight). Weekend rotation (teams alternating weekly).

Salary: To be discussed in interview based on experience and age

About the Role

The store is looking for a hands‑on, teachable General Manager who can lead a team, handle stock processes, and run the daily operations of a busy grocery retail environment. The role requires someone reliable, physically mobile, able to work under pressure, and committed to the nature of retail trading hours.

Duties

• Oversee daily store operations
• Manage staff across all levels (above and below your position)
• Delegate tasks and follow up diligently
• Ensure smooth receiving of stock and manage returns
• Support selling‑area duties and deliver excellent customer service
• Work fast but accurately, with attention to detail
• Participate in weekend rotation (every second weekend)
• Work double shifts when required based on team scheduling

Requirements

• Experience in SPAR, Checkers, Pick n Pay or general grocery retail (advantage)
• Experience in stock receiving and product returns
• Basic PC literacy
• Strong leadership qualities but doesn’t need to be an extrovert
• Teachable, reliable and able to see the “bigger picture”
• Physically mobile
• Not a “clock watcher”
• Own reliable transport
• Matric
• Clear criminal record
• Willing to work shifts, weekends, and double shifts when required
