Job summary

A mining company based in Gauteng is seeking a General Engineering Supervisor (Electrical) to manage the maintenance of their engineering assets and ensure machinery availability. The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years experience as an Electrical Foreman and possess a valid driver's license. Responsibilities include overseeing maintenance programs, managing budgets, and ensuring safe working conditions. Strong knowledge of engineering principles and computer skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience as an appointed 2.9.2 Electrical Foreman.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
  • In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness.

The role

The role directs the maintenance programme for the operation, ensuring effective management and continuous improvement of Seriti’s engineering assets, resources, and infrastructure in a safe and sustainable manner, while overseeing the day-to-day execution of plans to maintain machinery and equipment availability and managing people and resources to achieve planned production targets.

Responsibilities
  • Effective People management, ensuring that roles are well defined and clarified and that competencies and learning paths are developed to human capacity and capability
  • Financial Budgeting & Management
  • Knowledge of SCADA system, PLC & Electrical reticulation
  • Maintain safe work practices and a safe working environment by ensuring that legal requirements and group working standards and policies related to engineering are implemented and followed on the Operations and Projects
  • Manage conveyor belt inventory and forecasting
  • Management of critical spares and sub-assemblies (stock levels/turnaround time and quality of repairs)
  • Managing structural/mechanical/hydraulic drawing libraries
  • Optimize planned maintenance schedules of machinery and equipment ensuring that equipment is effectively maintained
  • Participate in ad hoc projects providing input into drafting of scope for new projects
  • Research and implement best practice systems with respect to cost, maintenance, safety and people management
  • Sound knowledge of conveyor belts, transfer chutes, screening, crushing, stacker-reclaimers, pumps, dense medium separation plant and hydraulic/pneumatic equipment
  • Structural integrity maintenance management
Requirements
  • N4 Technical certificate and recognized Trade Test in the relevant discipline or National Diploma or Engineering Degree
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience as an appointed 2.9.2 Electrical Foreman

  • A good working knowledge and understanding of machinery and equipment used in the Mining industry
  • Aware of best practices and new technologies relating to Engineering Principles and Processes
  • Computer Literacy: MS Office and SAP
  • Valid driver’s license
  • In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness
Advantageous
  • Technical experience in Low Voltage, instrumentation (control systems) and Medium Voltage equipment and infrastructure
