Financial Controller

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller that also has a lot of experience in Accounts Payable (AP) with expertise to oversee day‑to‑day finance operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, and maintain tight control over payables, cash flow, and compliance. This role requires a hands‑on finance professional who is comfortable managing transactional finance while also contributing to higher‑level financial oversight and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Control & Reporting
  • Oversee month‑end and year‑end close processes
  • Prepare and review management accounts, balance sheets, and cash flow statements; ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data across all ledgers
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
Accounts Payable Management
  • Own the end‑to‑end Accounts Payable function
  • Review and approve supplier invoices, payment runs, and reconciliations; ensure correct coding, approvals, and timely payments
  • Manage vendor queries and resolve discrepancies efficiently
  • Maintain strong internal controls over AP processes
Compliance & Controls
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and local regulations
  • Maintain audit‑ready documentation and support external audits
  • Implement and improve financial controls and approval workflows
Process Improvement & Systems
  • Identify and implement efficiencies within AP and broader finance processes
  • Work closely with operations and procurement teams to improve cost controls
  • Support finance system improvements and integrations
Stakeholder Support
  • Partner with internal teams to provide financial insights and support
  • Assist leadership with financial decision‑making and reporting requirements
Required Experience & Skills
  • 5+ years' experience in a Financial Controller, Senior Accountant, or similar role
  • Strong, hands‑on experience managing Accounts Payable
  • Solid understanding of general ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Experience working with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite, Sage, or similar)
  • Advanced Excel / Google Sheets skills
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Professional qualification (CA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) advantageous
  • Experience supporting US, UK, or international entities
  • Experience working in a remote or distributed finance team
