Job description

Would you like to differentiate yourself? We are a growing, modern and tech‑focused accounting firm. We have amazing offices in Bree Street, Cape Town, and we operate on a hybrid basis (working in office 3x per week to ensure we maintain a strong culture and a strong foundation of constant collaboration), which means you would need to be comfortable working from office 3x per week.

Our mission is to be the best accountants in the tech industry by providing our clients best in class compliance, financial visibility and insights. The digital asset space is seeing exponential growth and is the future, as the United States has issued an Executive Order to accelerate the innovation of AI and crypto. We are very much embedded into the new digital age.

What we do

We provide a premium, full‑suite, outsourced bookkeeping and accounting / finance function to SME's, mainly in the technology space across the globe, that includes AI, fintech and blockchain companies. This includes bookkeeping, compliance, payroll, software integration, regular client meetings, and financial advisory. In our accounting division, we only work with retainer clients whom we service on a monthly recurring basis.

Requirements
Your role

We are looking for individuals with decent bookkeeping / accounting experience or you are a SAIPA‑registered accountant who has completed their articles at a professional services firm. Training will be provided on tools and software where necessary. You may be responsible for supporting all of the following functions for a small portfolio of clients as a team (not all clients have the same requirements):

  • Crypto bookkeeping – Reconciling transactions using our in‑house tool or off‑the‑shelf subledger software and reviewing the journal entries for Xero.
  • Fiat bookkeeping – Reconciling all transactions in Xero, passing all required manual journals in Xero, maintaining the Fixed Asset Register in Xero, reviewing the balance sheet and profit or loss, using Hubdoc or Dext to capture supplier bills and push them through to Xero.
  • Fathom Reporting – Syncing Xero with Fathom, updating and classifying accounts in Fathom to produce monthly management reports to send to the client (training will be provided).
  • Client Meetings – Joining your team for meetings with the clients online to touch base on their management accounts and address any queries that they might have.
  • Maintaining the client relationship – This is very important to us, you must be comfortable to be client‑facing, you must be able or willing to do your own problem‑solving – in the context of still having a team you can leverage.
  • Annual Financial Statements – Preparing AFS in Draftworx Cloud.
  • Payroll reconciliations – From the payroll system to Xero.
  • Tax Filings – Submitting VAT, PAYE returns (e.g. VAT201s, EMP201s).
  • Income Tax – Submitting Income Tax and Provisional Tax returns for companies and their directors.
  • Ad‑hoc client requests – and
  • Reconciliations – Creditor recons, debtor recons, payroll recons, fixed asset register recons, balance sheet recons, all other recons to make sure the client accounts are up to date and relevant.

While we do not have many South African‑based clients, we still require SARS interaction for some clients, albeit less than you would be used to in South Africa.

You will be part of a team that is responsible for the full financial function of your clients. It means that you will experience client‑facing meetings, and you will work with a team to ensure that the accounts are accurate and seamless. Your goal will be to become able to service clients on your own. You will however have support from senior accountants in the case you need assistance.

While it is helpful, you do not need to have knowledge or experience with cryptocurrency or technology companies, as full training will be provided, however being open‑minded is very helpful in the learning process.

This will represent amazing growth opportunities, differentiating yourself from other accountants / bookkeepers as blockchain and AI are the future of finance. It is also a great opportunity to work with a very talented team that will elevate your career path.

Benefits

Compensation is market related with a very unique incentive scheme/policy in place.

If this sounds like you, we look forward to receiving your application.
