Job description

Site: CANSMART (ORMONDE)

The Financial Manager will provide operational and tactical financial leadership for the Ormonde site, acting as a business partner to site leadership.

This role ensures financial compliance, reporting accuracy, strategic financial planning, and cost efficiency for a large-scale manufacturing operation.

The Financial Manager will work closely with operations, distribution, and group finance to drive financial performance, optimize working capital, and support business growth.

Responsibilities
  • Drive financial governance at the site, ensuring compliance with Group policies, SOPs, and best practices.
  • Manage and optimize weekly cash-up forecasting models, ensuring alignment with financial plans and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate and drive cost‑saving initiatives across the business unit.
  • Oversee financial standardization at the site, ensuring efficiency in reporting and controls.
  • Manage working capital, including: Debtors—oversee rebates, discounts, and overdue account management; Creditors—ensure proper recording of liabilities, compliance in procurement, receipting, and cost recording; Stock—optimize holdings for raw materials, finished goods, and engineering spares; Payroll—monitor overtime planning and control.
  • Drive return on capital employed (ROCE) through strategic financial decisions.
  • Oversee Capex reviews, project management, and EVA modelling to enhance profitability.
  • Lead the annual budget process for the Ormonde site.
  • Manage monthly forecasting using financial planning tools and ERP systems.
  • Prepare and submit the monthly management reporting pack, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Conduct variance analysis, KPI tracking, and financial risk assessments.
  • Provide in‑depth BOM analysis and cost breakdowns for key variable expenses.
  • Ensure statutory and regulatory compliance, including VAT and tax submissions.
  • Oversee internal and external audits, ensuring adherence to financial and operational controls.
  • Implement and maintain financial risk management strategies.
  • Lead the BEE submission process for the site.
  • Act as a financial partner to the General Manager, Operations Manager, and Distribution Manager to drive business performance.
  • Support capital investment evaluations, cost‑saving initiatives, and operational improvements.
  • Provide financial decision‑making support for optimizing plant performance.
  • Drive process automation and digital transformation in financial reporting.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Financial Management, Accounting, or a related field (NQF 7).
  • CIMA qualification (preferred) or equivalent professional certification (ACCA).
  • 10+ years of experience in a finance leadership role, in a manufacturing environment.
  • Extensive experience in product costing, financial modelling, and business analysis.
  • Extensive stock management experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, ERP systems, and financial reporting tools.
  • Experienced in system roll‑out and migration.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage stakeholders, and drive financial performance.
  • Strategic influencer with strong problem‑solving capabilities.
  • High energy, tenacity, and resilience to thrive in a demanding manufacturing environment.
  • Strong decision‑making skills, partnering closely with operations and distribution.
  • Project management expertise, ensuring financial goals align with business initiatives.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
Working Conditions

Full‑time role based in Ormonde, on site. Occasional overtime required to meet reporting deadlines or support business demands. Minimal travel to other sites as needed. Fast‑paced, high‑pressure manufacturing environment with tight deadlines.
