Position Summary
The Enterprise Risk Manager (ERM) is responsible for supporting the design, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of the organisation’s enterprise-wide risk management framework. The role ensures that risks are consistently identified, assessed, monitored, mitigated and reported across business units, enabling effective decision-making and long-term sustainability. The ERM works closely with the Executive Leadership and the Board of Directors to embed a strong risk culture and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
Required Qualification and Experience
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Risk Management, Business Administration, Economics, or related field (required).
- Chartered Accountant (CA) (SA) designation is advantageous.
- Master’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, or MBA is preferred.
- Professional certifications such as FRM (Financial Risk Manager), PRM (Professional Risk Manager), or CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) are advantageous.
Experience
- 8–10 years of relevant experience in enterprise risk management, internal audit or compliance in a financial services environment.
- 5 years of experience in a managerial position.
- Direct experience and liaison with the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC).
- Experience working with ERM tools or systems is preferred.
Main Responsibilities
Risk Framework & Governance
- Lead the continuous development and implementation of an Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework aligned with organisational strategy.
- Facilitate risk identification, assessment, and mitigation activities across business units.
- Drive the adoption and implementation of risk policies, procedures, and controls in accordance with internationally accepted risk management guidelines and standards.
Risk Monitoring and Reporting
- Monitor, analyse, and report on key risk exposures and emerging risks.
- Maintain and track Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) to inform strategic decisions and highlight areas of operational risk.
- Prepare regular and ad-hoc risk reports for Executive Leadership and the Board of Directors.
Operational Risk Management
- Conduct Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs), scenario analysis, and incident reviews.
- Support business units in developing and testing risk mitigation strategies.
- Ensure operational risks are documented, escalated, and managed in accordance with policy.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing accurate risk-related data and documentation.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess risk impact of business initiatives and projects.
- Drive and ensure the delivery of risk workshops and training sessions to promote enterprise-wide risk awareness and strengthen organisational risk management capabilities.
- Champion the integration of a risk-conscious mindset across all levels of the organisation, fostering a culture of proactive risk management.
Support for Leadership
- Provide analysis, insights, and recommendations to support Executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
- Assist in special risk-related projects including ISO certifications and audit readiness.
The successful candidate should ideally possess the following key competencies

- Strong understanding of enterprise risk management principles, tools, and practices.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and industry standards.
- Analytical ability to interpret quantitative and qualitative risk data.
- Strong risk management background, preferably with FIC experience.

- Ability to influence and engage stakeholders across departments.
- Skilled in facilitating workshops and risk assessments.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
Communication
- Excellent report writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to translate risk concepts into actionable business insights.
Business Partners Limited offers market-related remuneration, including short- and medium-term incentives. The appointed ERM will initially report to the Managing Director, with a potential change in reporting line to a member of Executive Management anticipated in the short to medium term.
