Job summary

Job description
Introduction

This position will be based in the Saldanha Bay Municipality area in the Western Cape.

Description

The purpose of this position is to diagnose and maintain machinery and equipment according to technical specification and sound engineering practice.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct trade related fault-finding on rigging and lifting equipment
  • Perform inspections on lifting equipment and working at heights equipment according to legislative requirements
  • Maintain inspection registers for lifting tackle and working at heights equipment to monitor and ensure compliance
  • Coordinate the maintenance of lifting and working at heights equipment to ensure adherence to legal requirements
  • Coordinate the availability of lifting equipment and machines by liaising with external suppliers
  • Plan, coordinate and execute rigging and lifting tasks
  • Conduct risk assessments and complete master lifting plans before proceeding with lifting operations
  • Monitor the efficiency of maintained equipment and machinery to engineering maintenance standards
  • Comply with permit procedures before proceeding with lifting operations
  • Prioritise activities according to requirements
  • Record and file all data related to lifting operations and lifting equipment
Qualification Requirements
  • Matric (Grade 12) or an equivalent qualification registered at NQF Level 4, including relevant NATED qualifications such as the N3 Certificate.
  • Valid Section 13 / Section 26 (D) Trade Test Certificate required
  • Valid driver’s license code B, EB or C1
  • Own transport to attend to call outs
