Purpose of the position:

As an electrical Technologist, you will take on a technical function within your team to ensure successful engineering development of electrical deliverables, as well as interfacing with other disciplines. Some of the key attributes to this position are Urgency, Professionalism and Conscientiousness. The successful applicant will demonstrate full ownership and accountability for all activities and projects involved in.

Qualifications/Experience:

• BTech Eng in electrical engineering heavy current.
• 5+ years of experience in the petrochemical and energy sectors in a design and execution function.
• Registered as a professional technologist with the ECSA OR eligible for registration.

Required Outputs and Responsibilities:

• Execute on basic/detail engineering & design packages – small power and lighting design, electrical distribution system design, switchgear, auxiliary system design, system studies, setting calculations, incident investigation etc.
• Take responsibility for technical quality and sound engineering on projects with strong knowledge and mastery of petrochemical and other industry design specifications, standards, legislation, and international best practices.
• Responsible sometimes for supervising, guiding, manage budgets, schedules, and safety on the electrical engineering projects as well as contract management.
• Continuously update the philosophy on generating quality engineering deliverables as per client and business requirements using the Proconics quality management system.
• Participate in multi-disciplinary engineering activities and ensure close cooperation with other engineering teams.
• Review and sign off designs including COC’s on completion of construction and commissioning activities.
• Assist in developing and maintaining design guides, checklists and artefacts for improvement.
• Compile tenders and quotations for new projects. Responsible for business development; introducing new and retaining existing clients to Proconics to be able to secure work.
• Mentoring of junior resources in electrical engineering and conducting performance reviews in the team.
• Planning and prioritizing design effort to ensure effective delivery to projects.
• Conduct presentations for the client design review process and facilitate the lead role.
• Take responsibility for your development and stay ahead of the industry standard, including maintaining your registration with professional bodies.
