eBilling Specialist (Contract)

The eBilling Specialist is responsible for managing and maintaining electronic billing (eBilling) activities within LexisNexis CounselLink. This role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant processing of legal invoices, while supporting the Legal Operations team with various administrative and system-related tasks. The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience using CounselLink, strong attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and external law firms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Invoice Management:
    • Review, validate, and process legal invoices in CounselLink according to client billing guidelines and company policies.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve invoice rejections, discrepancies, and compliance issues.
    • Communicate with law firms to correct or resubmit invoices as necessary.
  • System Administration & Support:
    • Maintain and update vendor and matter information in CounselLink.
    • Assist with configuration changes, matter setup, and user access requests.
    • Monitor eBilling workflows to ensure timely approvals and payments.
    • Support audits, reporting, and data integrity initiatives in CounselLink.
  • Reporting & Analytics:
    • Generate and distribute regular reports on billing status, accruals, and spend.
    • Assist with metric tracking and spend analysis for budgeting and forecasting purposes.
  • Process Improvement & Documentation:
    • Identify opportunities to streamline eBilling processes and enhance system efficiency.
    • Maintain detailed process documentation and provide training to internal users as needed.
  • Miscellaneous CounselLink Tasks:
    • Upload and maintain documents, rate cards, and matter details.
    • Support the Legal Operations team with ad hoc tasks, special projects, and system clean‑up efforts within CounselLink.
    • Coordinate with IT and vendors on technical issues or system enhancements.
Qualifications
  • Required:
    • 2+ years of experience in eBilling, legal operations, or accounts payable.

    • Strong understanding of legal billing guidelines, rate structures, and matter management.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Preferred:
    • Experience working in a corporate legal department or law firm environment.
    • Familiarity with other eBilling systems (e.g., TyMetrix, Legal Tracker, Collaborati).
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise across departments.
Contract Details

Full-time: ~40 hours per week

Contract length: 3‑6 months minimum with potential for renewal

Work setup: Remote; must be authorized to work in the U.S.
