Job summary

A nonprofit organization in Cape Town seeks an Early Life Operations Administrator to support the delivery of Early Life programs through administration and coordination. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in an administrative or operations role and be fluent in English. Early Life Operations Administrator at Common Good

Salary: Remuneration will be aligned with Common Good’s remuneration framework and offered at a level commensurate with experience

Type of employment: Full time

This role exists to support the effective delivery of Early Life programmes through administration, coordination and operational support. It is both people‑facing and detail‑driven, requiring someone who is comfortable moving between relationships, systems and logistics. You will work closely with the Early Life Programme Director and team, supporting a mix of programme activities, events, communications and operational processes. Some weeks will be more event‑heavy; others more admin‑focused — adaptability is key.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Supporting the coordination of Early Life events, trainings and gatherings (online and in‑person)
  • Providing administrative and operational support to programme activities and team workflows
  • Communicating and following up with church leaders and participants across different contexts
  • Managing systems, forms, records and processes that support smooth programme delivery
  • Assisting with logistics, data capture, communication flows and operational problem‑solving
  • Contributing to a collaborative, service‑orientated team culture within Common Good
Qualifications and Requirements

Education

  • National Senior Certificate (Matric) or equivalent.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an administration, operations support, coordination or programme support role.

Language

  • Fluent in English (verbal and written).
  • Ability to speak at least one Nguni language (isiXhosa, isiZulu, isiNdebele or siSwati).

Administrative Competence

  • Demonstrated experience in general administration, including data capturing, document management and coordination tasks.

Digital Capability

  • Working proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel, Word and Outlook).
  • Comfortable using online platforms and digital tools (e.g. email, Zoom, online forms, WhatsApp).

Relational & Communication Skills

  • Ability to communicate professionally and respectfully with diverse stakeholders, including church leaders and community partners.

Availability

  • Ability to work 30–40 hours per week, with flexibility to adjust hours in line with programme and event need.
