Job description

Babylonstoren’s e-commerce division has grown exponentially over the last few years. Our environment is fast-paced, innovative, and performance-driven, which will suit an individual who enjoys being challenged, has a keen eye for detail, and looks to find solutions. We are hyper-focused on the customer experience, which drives every decision, process, and task.

This role focuses on technical marketing analysis with a strong emphasis on driving our reporting, analytics, and tracking strategy and implementation thereof. A combination of creativity and strong analytical skills are required to identify website optimization opportunities, coupled with the ability to develop and execute a testing and optimization plan. A high level of attention to detail and excellent organizational skills are crucial for success. You must be able to prioritize tasks and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with competing deadlines. Working in a small but growing team requires the ability to work cross-functionally and with a wide range of individuals with different skill sets.

This position forms part of the marketing team and reports to the E-commerce Marketing Manager.

Responsibilities
  1. Marketing analytics and reporting: Responsible for tracking, reporting, and analysing the performance of marketing activities, ad-hoc analytic requests, and automation of regular reports. Provide actionable market and customer insights to address key strategic questions. Assist with market research to analyse the competitive landscape, determine brand perceptions, and identify new marketing opportunities.
  2. Experimentation and conversion rate optimisation (CRO): Function as an important member of the marketing team by supporting UX and CRO strategies with audience-centric recommendations for improving website performance. Evaluate customers’ online behaviour and provide insights and recommendations to improve website performance, as well as the overall online shopping experience. Support strategy, execution, and measurement of A/B tests and CRO experiments within the e-commerce marketing team. Work with content creators to optimise landing pages, calls to action, and lead-generating forms.
  3. Search engine optimisation (SEO): Monitor traffic performance in Google Analytics and Google Search Console. Support copywriters with keyword research for SEO writing. Continuously collect, analyse and identify trends/insights to improve the SEO strategy. Work with the development team to implement the best SEO practices.
Required experience and skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, data analysis or information science, or similar qualification in a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Afrikaans and English.
  • Demonstrable experience as a data analyst, preferably working in a marketing team or with marketing stakeholders, with a track record of producing data-driven insights and recommendations to various stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in working with SEO, Google Analytics and other MarTech platforms.
  • In-depth understanding of tracking and how to best set up different KPI measurements.
  • Experience in compiling, executing and reporting on A/B testing plans.
  • Extensive experience with analytics tools, working with developers in setting up correct tracking, and ensuring that all metrics are reported on correctly.
  • Excellent knowledge of statistical analysis and data visualisation.
  • Experience in an e-commerce environment and e-commerce platforms would be advantageous.
  • Experience working with project management tools (e.g., Asana) would be advantageous.
