Job summary

A leading automotive manufacturer is seeking a Designated Artisan – Millwright in Durban. This role requires expertise in electrical and mechanical maintenance, fault finding, and experience with pneumatics and hydraulics. Candidates should have an N3 qualification and be trade tested as a millwright, with 2-4 years of experience in manufacturing. Responsibilities include maintaining all plant equipment and participating in upgrades. Candidates must be flexible with day and night shifts including standby duties.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years post apprenticeship experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Experience in pneumatics, electro-pneumatics, and hydraulics required.
• Must be prepared for rotational day & night shifts, overtime, and standby.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance on all plant equipment.
• Conduct servicing and repairs of paint equipment and pneumatic pumps.
• Participate in machine and facility upgrade projects.

Key Performance Areas

• Perform Electrical / Mechanical maintenance on all plant equipment.
• Maintenance, Fault finding & Repairs on PLC, Motors, Hoists, Conveyors (floor & overhead), DB’s, Lights, Fans, Spray systems, Lifters, rollers, ovens, hangers (carriers), pumps, paint systems, pneumatics, hydraulics & all plant facility equipment.
• Servicing & repairs of Paint equipment, Pneumatic Pumps & Motors,
• Participation in machine & facility upgrade projects
• Perform legal compliance checks. Maintain quality standards & work in accordance with ISO standards.
• TPM’s & RCA on all plant facility
• Attend to equipment breakdowns.
• Production support
• Implementation of Kaizens and Cost reductions
• Standby responsibility, start-up and switch off responsibility, and weekend duty.
• Quality problem investigation and countermeasure
• MTTR and MTBF improvement
• Quality circle’s participation
• Squad Kaizens

Qualifications And Experience

• N3 + Trade tested, (MILLWRIGHT ).
• Minimum 2 - 4 years post apprenticeship experience in manufacturing environment (preferable).
• Experience in pneumatics, electro-pneumatics & hydraulics
• PLC’s and Robotics experience would be an advantage
• Must be prepared to work both day & night shifts on rotational basis, overtime and standby as and when required.
