Job description
Key Responsibilities
  • To pursue the branch's growth strategy by providing credit and trade finance business products on a bilateral and syndicated basis.
  • Assist the team with financial analysis, assessment of cash flows, industry risk assessments and due diligence report (credit risk reports) based on specific credit applications from client-facing business units serving clients both locally and internationally.
  • Reviewing and commenting on post-lending management reports where necessary, processing annual reviews of existing clients, monitoring progress of developments, reporting on bilateral and syndication post-lending requirements and covenants as well as dealing with ad-hoc reporting as required.
  • Actively engaging with members of other Credit Review Committees (CRC) locally and at EMEA (London) / Head Office (China), to present risk findings and deal with queries from submission up to when a decision is finalised.
  • Promote and enhance strategies for credit business development, green finance and other risk-related areas outlined in branch policies.
  • Lead the process on high-risk and non-performing loan recovery accounts to ensure consistent progress on account repayments and collections for those accounts that are handed over.
  • Monitor watch-list accounts and ensure risk reports are submitted to Head Office if there are major risk events.
  • Work closely with the internal rating process, expected credit loss (ECL) reporting as well as RAROC and EVA calculations within the team, ultimately informing the credit decision process.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Credit Risk Analyst : 2 – 3 years credit experience in banking.
  • Credit Risk Manager : 5 – 10 years credit experience, preferably with large corporate exposure.
  • Experience in dealing with different credit products across various industries, dealing in collateral and understanding of legal documentation across various jurisdictions.
  • Able to suggest alternative funding solutions by making recommendations based on credit policy guidelines.
  • Proficient in MS Office software packages (Excel and Word).
  • Knowledge of the South African Company Act, Bank Act, Basel III, etc.
