Contact Centre operators take a high volume of inbound calls for requests for dental care from eligible patients using a telephone triage tool to determine their priority for services. They also use an electronic appointment book to place patients on waiting lists and answer general dental needs, being confident in moving through different applications on a computer when on a call. During call down time operators may be asked to carry out other administrative functions under the direction of a supervisor.
The successful applicant will need to demonstrate a caring and empathetic oral communication style with callers. You will need to be able to handle difficult callers and follow policy to answer enquiries in a professional manner.
Corporate orientation will be carried out during shifts and site orientation on the first day. One‑on‑one training over several weeks and daily mentoring will support operators until they can confidently work independently. After this period operators can approach a shift supervisor any time during shifts for support or advice in call management.
You’ll be part of a forward‑thinking organisation committed to patient safety, professional development and innovative service improvement. This is an opportunity to meaningfully influence the capability of clinicians and improve patient care across a large and diverse health district.
Applicants will be assessed against essential requirements and selection criteria contained within the position description. Recommended applicants will be reviewed for compliance with NSW Health policy directive PD2024015: Occupational Assessment Screening and Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases for Category B positions prior to offer. All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in the policy.
Eligibility: Must be an Australian Citizen, permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand passport. Temporary visa holders may be considered only if no suitable local candidate is identified and in line with visa conditions and expiry.
