Candidates should have experience in a bakery or similar environment and exhibit strong baking skills and attention to detail. Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a confectionery, bakery, or similar food production environment.
  • Experience working with dough preparation and baking processes.
  • Relevant baking or food preparation training is advantageous.

Total Piet Retief, part of the TWK Group, has the following vacancy available: Confectionary Baker at Piet Retief, Mpumalanga.

Job Summary

This role involves the preparation, baking, and finishing of confectionery and pastry products. The Confectionery Baker will be responsible for ensuring consistent product quality, maintaining food safety and occupational health standards, and supporting production efficiency within a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Baking of pastries and confectionery products
  • Kneading, maturing, cutting, moulding, mixing, and shaping dough and pastry goods
  • Preparing and handling pastry fillings according to required standards
  • Monitoring oven temperatures and product appearance to determine correct baking times
  • Emptying, cleaning, and greasing baking trays, tins, and other baking equipment
  • Ensuring equipment and work areas are clean and compliant with occupational health and safety requirements prior to production runs
  • Checking the quality of raw materials and accurately weighing ingredients
  • Operating machinery used for rolling, moulding, and cutting dough and biscuits
  • Motivating, guiding, and supporting other team members during production
Qualifications and Skills
  • Matric / Grade 12
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills
  • Relevant baking or food preparation training (advantageous)
  • Proven experience in a confectionery, bakery, or similar food production environment
  • Experience working with dough preparation, baking processes, and baking equipment
  • Experience operating basic bakery machinery (advantageous)
