Job description
Key Responsibilities
  • Review, analyze, and approve commercial credit proposals, balancing risk and return through financial assessments.
  • Define limits of exposure and ensure adherence to strong credit standards.
  • Lead and mentor a team of credit approvers, leveraging credit assessment tools to maintain portfolio quality.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor credit programs, including training and coaching to enhance team competencies.
  • Evaluate and update credit approval policies and guidelines; handle ad hoc investigative projects related to customer portfolios.
  • Oversee debt recovery procedures and utilize all possible recovery approaches to maximize outcomes, including managing extreme credit situations.
  • Monitor the full credit granting process, including consistent policy application, periodic reviews, and creditworthiness assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and timely submission of financial and management reporting.
  • Maintain an effective departmental structure and track performance using appropriate metrics.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Commerce or Finance required.
  • MBA qualification preferred.
  • 8–10 years relevant experience, ideally in banking, credit risk, or financial services.
  • Experienced in credit risk management, retail finance, and collections oversight.
