CAPEX Project Procurement Specialist

Location: On-site at UKZN University Durban

Contract: 6-month fixed term (possibility of extension)

Salary: R40 000 - R50 000 per month

About the Role

Our client is seeking experienced CAPEX Project Procurement Specialists to play a key role in managing strategic group purchasing contracts across member institutions. You will liaise with stakeholders, lead tender processes and develop procurement strategies that ensure cost savings, compliance and service excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with stakeholders at member institutions to identify new group purchasing opportunities.
  • Conduct market research and develop procurement strategies to deliver best-value contracts.
  • Manage tender processes, evaluations and contract awards for new and renewed contracts.
  • Oversee supplier relationships, performance tracking and cost optimisation.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, procedures and standards.
  • Drive the e-tender and catalogue systems ensuring effectiveness and ongoing improvement.
  • Build strong ethical relationships with member institutions and suppliers.
  • Promote the organisation’s procurement services and facilitate stakeholder forums.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives through economies of scale.
  • Manage and support junior staff and act in relief positions when required.
  • Provide accurate, timely reports to the CEO and relevant committees.
  • Ensure all tender outcomes are legally defensible.
Desired Experience & Qualification
  • Bachelor's Degree in Commerce Business Management or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a corporate procurement environment.
  • Proven knowledge of e-Procurement systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (advanced level).
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical and negotiation skills.
Working Hours

Monday to Friday 08:00 – 17:00
