Job description
About our client:

Our client is a well-established and highly regarded South African software development company that develops, supports and consults software solutions for the academic sector. With offices in Jhb and Cape Town, they are progressive with regard to their technology stack. Their solutions and services span the full range of the software development life cycle. Employees are mostly permanent and long term. They have a very low staff turnover, which is indicative of how well they are treated.

What you will be doing:
  • Develop deep knowledge of the existing SIS product and user business processes. Translate business, product, and client requirements into product features and solutions, and assist the Product Owner with feature improvements and roadmap input.
  • Prepare detailed specifications for the product backlog using Confluence and Jira, and write necessary test cases.
  • Explain specifications, perform estimations with the team in refinement sessions, and assist developers in understanding design and requirements.
  • Define test strategies and perform functional and regression testing on completed features. Ensure all business conditions are met. Conduct testing for new implementations, upgrades, and migrations, with a strong focus on use case testing.
  • Participate in defining scope, compiling documentation, and managing the project lifecycle, including using Jira for tracking, monitoring hours/risks, and managing scope creep.
  • Drive client engagements through discovery sessions, demos, and Q&A sessions. Manage the implementation, upgrade, and migration of the SIS for clients, including understanding/documenting requirements, configuration, and data migration assistance.
  • Analyse and troubleshoot complex support requests assigned by Functional Application Consultants (FACs). Provide effective resolutions/workarounds and specify needed fixes or enhancements. Collaborate with the Scrum Master to prioritise support items.
  • Analyse monthly support data to identify product improvements, trends, and processes that can avoid recurring support tasks.
  • Maintain product version documentation and assist with product help documentation.
What our client is looking for:
  • A relevant tertiary qualification would be beneficial

  • Knowledge of Business process design principles and concepts.
  • Drive, motivation, and a passion for client focus and a good user experience.
  • Self‑management and the ability to figure things out independently.
  • Resourceful and impactful ("gets things done and makes an impact").
