Job summary

A leading building materials supplier in Vereeniging is seeking a Board Cutting and Edging Supervisor to monitor cutting and edging operations and ensure the quality and smooth running of these processes. The ideal candidate will have Grade 12 qualifications, carpentry and supervisory experience. Responsibilities include maintaining machinery, advising customers, and ensuring safety compliance. The position involves shifts, weekends, and public holidays, and requires effective scheduling to provide exceptional customer service.

Qualifications

  • 2 years carpentry experience would be advantageous.
  • 2 years managerial or supervisory experience would be advantageous.
  • 1 year experience working with cutting and edging machinery would be advantageous.

Board Cutting and Edging Supervisor (External Applications Only)
Description:

Board Cutting and Edging Supervisor is responsible for monitoring cutting & edging operations, quality and smooth running of cutting & edging processes. He/she needs to supervise and coordinate activities of workers engaged in cutting & edging fabric as per customer specifications so to minimise losses to the company. Responsible for the maintenance on all machinery.

Requirement:
  • Grade 12 or equivalent NQF 4 qualifications.
  • 2 years carpentry experience would be advantageous
  • 2 years managerial or supervisory experience would be advantageous
  • 1 year experience working with cutting and edging machinery would be advantageousAbility to perform basic calculations accurately.
  • Well-developed problem solving and analytical skills
  • Must be willing to work shifts, weekends, and Public Holidays.
  • Must be able to work under pressure.
Key Performance Area:
  • Minimise wastage and customer complaints through accurate calibration of machines according to cutting list
  • Minimise wastage and customer complaints through accurate reading and interpreting of cutting lists
  • Perform daily cleaning and preventative maintenance on machinery
  • Ensure effective Employee scheduling planned and implemented to provide exceptional Customer service.
  • Advise Customers correctly on product.
  • Assist Customer with any product queries.
  • Assist with Customer complaints timely.
  • Must be available in area of responsibility.
  • Assist in other departments as and when required
  • Ensure area of responsibility is packed neatly and free of obstacles,
  • Ensure stock is merchandised immediately after being received.
  • Safety (OHSA) compliance (e.g. use of safety gear, ensure Customer, and Employee safety) within area of responsibility.
  • Adherence to machinery specifications and safety standards
  • Stock in area of responsibility is to be merchandised in a safe manner ensuring the safety of Customers and Employees
  • Be aware of suspicious behaviours or people and report any suspicions to Management.
  • No product to be loaded for a customer without proof of purchase or required documentation.
