Overview

A leading automation and industrial technology company is seeking a skilled Automation Electronics Technician to join their dynamic team in Pinetown, Durban.

This opportunity is ideal for a technically strong, detail‑oriented professional with extensive experience in electronic systems, fault finding, and variable speed drive technology. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting, maintaining, and optimising advanced automation equipment to ensure efficient and reliable operation for clients. Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections, servicing, and maintenance on automation and electronic equipment.
• Diagnose electronic and electrical faults using technical drawings, manuals, and diagnostic tools.
• Perform repairs, component replacement, and testing to ensure optimal functionality.
• Work with variable speed drives and servo motor systems for commissioning, troubleshooting, and support.
• Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, including service reports and technical notes.
• Provide exceptional customer service and technical support to clients when required.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols and maintain a clean, organised work environment.
• Collaborate with internal teams to source parts, plan interventions, and improve system performance.

Requirements

• Proven working experience in an Electronics Technician role.
• 5 years experience in the electronics field.
• Solid understanding of electrical principles and electronic signal flow.Hands‑on experience with variable speed drives or servo motors (experience with VSDs is particularly important).
• Proven ability to fault‑find using electrical drawings and schematics.
• Relevant qualifications in the electronics industry.
• Proficiency in English and MS Office.
• Detail‑oriented, organised, and committed to quality and safety.
• Customer‑service driven with strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
