Accountant / Bookkeeper (Property/Finserv) – R40 000PM – Newlands, CPT

Responsibilities

• Maintain full set of books to trial balance.
• Process daily, weekly and monthly transactions in accounting systems (e.g., Pastel, Sage, Xero).
• Reconcile bank, cashbook, debtors, creditors and other ledger accounts.
• Prepare and submit VAT, PAYE, UIF and other statutory returns.
• Manage accounts receivable and payable cycles.
• Assist in preparing monthly management accounts.
• Liaise with clients to obtain necessary documentation.
• Handle SARS e‑filing and liaise with SARS on queries.
• Support the accounting team with year‑end audits and financial statements.
• Maintain proper filing and recordkeeping in line with firm protocols.

Requirements

• 2+ years experience.
• Diploma or Certificate in Bookkeeping / Accounting (e.g., ICB, SAIPA or similar).
• Advanced Excel skills preferred.
• Experience with accounting software such as Sage, Xero or Pastel.
• Knowledge of VAT, PAYE and SARS compliance.

Technical Skills

• Proficient in accounting packages and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of South African tax laws and compliance procedures.

Soft Skills

• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organisational and time‑management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.

Desirable (Not Essential)
