Brief description

The main purpose of this position is to oversee all strategic sourcing for the South African Reserve Bank (SARB), including planning and supplier development, contract negotiation and supply chain management, ensuring quality, value and transparency.

Detailed description

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

  • Oversee strategic sources for the SARB Group by identifying key partners and using negotiation to secure beneficial deals.
  • Develop and manage the implementation of the overall strategic sourcing strategy of the SARB.
  • Drive the implementation of the category management and individual sourcing strategies.
  • Provide strategic guidance to category leads on selected sourcing mechanisms.
  • Ensure governance and compliance with the procurement policies and guidelines of the SARB for all strategic sourcing activities.
  • Calculate and analyse the costs of procurement and suggest methods to synergise supply opportunities to decrease expenditure and add value to the SARB.
  • Research and identify reliable and trustworthy suppliers and strategize and negotiate with them to acquire the most cost-effective deals and to reduce procurement expenses.
  • Develop sectional operational plans aligned to the Financial Services Department and the SARB and clarify performance expectations for own team.
  • Manage the stakeholders within the supply chain to derive maximum economic benefit and continuity of supply to the SARB.
  • Analyse and integrate sectional management information for reporting to top management and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate and liaise with the operations and governance sections to optimise the procurement and governance process in order to attain maximum efficiency.
