Job summary

A leading personnel services company in Singapore is looking for a personnel with a uniformed service background to develop engaging after-school programmes for at-risk youth. Responsibilities include overseeing day-to-day operations, session planning, and organizing learning journeys. Candidates should hold relevant certifications and have a strong passion for youth engagement. This is a part-time role with a contract from January to December 2026, offering a pay of $35 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Must have at least 5 years of demonstrated experience working directly with at-risk youth.
  • Shall possess certifications in counselling, social work, or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in classroom management is preferred.

Job description
Programme Proposal Development

a) Design and submit a developmentally appropriate After-School Engagement Programme, including a holiday programme proposal, via GeBIZ. The proposed activities should be interactive in nature and provide opportunities for participants to engage in peer discussions and reflect on their learning.

Collaboration with School Staff

b) Work closely with school staff to provide operational and administrative support, ensuring that the programme objectives are met effectively.

Session Planning and Facilitation

c) Clearly outline how each session or activity will be facilitated, including the specific skills and competencies that students are expected to acquire throughout the programme.

Student Drop-In Centre Management

d) Oversee the smooth day-to-day operation of the student drop-in centre, uphold student discipline, and ensure that students adhere to the centre’s rules.

Upkeep of Facilities

e) Ensure the proper upkeep and maintenance of the after-school care room. Recommend improvements or changes to the logistics setup to enhance the functioning of the student centre.

Data Collection and Event Support

f) Assist school staff in data collection and support the implementation of special events related to student development programmes.

Learning Journeys

g) Organise and conduct at least two (2) learning journeys per year (e.g., one per semester).

Off-Site Venues

h) Propose and secure appropriate venues for activities that will be conducted outside of school.

Progress Reporting

i) Provide regular updates on the programme’s progress via a termly review meeting with school staff.

  • The personnel must come from a former uniformed service background (e.g., police, prison service).
  • Must have at least 5 years of demonstrated experience working directly with at-risk youth in educational, community, or correctional settings
  • The personnel should demonstrate a strong passion and disposition for working with at-risk students, along with a positive belief in their potential.
Work Arrangement
  • Working Schedule

Duration: Term 1 to 4 (28 weeks), 9.5 hours per week (total 266 hours):

Mon: 2.30pm to 5.00pm

Wed: 3.00pm to 5.00pm

Thu: 2.30pm to 5.00pm

Fri: 1.00pm to 3.30pm

Total hours includes March, June and Nov/Dec school holidays (in consultation with the school).

Requirements
  • Shall possess certifications in Counselling, Educational Psychology, Social Work or in other fields related to social and emotional learning or hold equivalent qualifications.
  • Must be competent to carry out the assigned tasks and responsibilities. Prior experience in working with secondary school students and classroom management is preferred.
  • Shall have a minimum of two years of experience in youth engagement, social work, and/or counselling.
