Job description

The Methodist School of Music (MSM) is an agency of The Methodist Church in Singapore (MCS). Its Worship and Music (WM) arm seeks to enhance the quality of worship by nurturing and equipping the body of Christ in the areas of Worship and Music. At the same time, as a private school registered with the Ministry of Education, the school offers various music instrumental and dance classes through its Community Music (CM) arm.

We have a vacancy for Stakeholder Engagement Manager (1-year contract).

Responsibilities and Duties

1. Stakeholder Relationship Management

  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders, including church members, leaders, volunteers, donors, local businesses, community organisations, and possibly even government entities.
  • Regularly communicate with stakeholders to understand their needs, concerns, and expectations.
  • Act as a liaison between the church and external stakeholders to facilitate collaboration and mutual support.

2. Community Outreach and Engagement

  • Develop and implement outreach programmes to connect with individuals and groups within the local community.
  • Organise community events, workshops, and initiatives to promote the church’s values and services.
  • Identify opportunities for the church to address community needs and collaborate with stakeholders to develop solutions.

3. Volunteer Management

  • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers to support various MSM programs and activities.
  • Provide ongoing support and recognition to volunteers to ensure high levels of engagement and retention.
  • Develop volunteer engagement strategies to maximise participation and effectiveness.

4. Donor Relations and Fundraising

  • Develop and implement fundraising strategies to support the financial needs of MSM.
  • Cultivate relationships with individual donors, foundations, and corporate sponsors to secure financial support.
  • Manage donor databases and acknowledge contributions in a timely and personalised manner.

5. Administrative Duties

  • Manage budgets for stakeholder engagement programs, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively and responsibly.
  • Maintain accurate records, communications, and documentation of stakeholder engagement programs, including donor information, budget monitoring, regulatory requirements, and grant reporting requirements.
  • Ensure timely and quality completion of organisation policy requirements and assigned responsibilities.
Job Requirements
  • Minimum Diploma or Degree in Social Work, Non-Profit Management, or a related field, from an established institution or university.
  • At least 7 years of experience working for social service agencies, the public service, or international non-profit organisations, with working proficiency and familiarity with the Charities Act, Personal Data Protection Act, and other relevant regulations.
  • Proven experience in non-profit operations, with a strong understanding of the needs and challenges faced by donors (i.e., high net worth family offices, corporations, philanthropists, etc.).
  • Knowledge of relevant government policies and grant programmes, with attention to detail in submitting the requisite documents for programmes and regulatory compliance.
  • Able to work well independently, under tight timelines, and on weekends.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Application (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, in interacting effectively with donors and stakeholders. Must have genuine patience for long conversations and high level relationship management.
