Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Site Supervision
- Supervise day-to-day site activities related to underground pipe laying for:
Sewer lines
SPPG (electric ducts)
Telecom ducts
PUB water pipelines
Gas pipelines
Manhole and chamber construction
- Ensure work is executed as per approved drawings and method statements.
- Monitor trenching, pipe laying, jointing, and backfilling activities.
2. Manpower & Equipment Management
- Allocate work to workers and subcontractors based on daily targets.
- Supervise equipment usage (excavators, compactors, dewatering pumps, etc.).
- Ensure efficient use of labor, machinery, and materials.
3. Safety and Compliance
- Enforce site safety measures, especially for trenching and confined space work.
- Ensure shoring, barricading, and signage are in place to prevent accidents.
- Follow all HSE requirements and report unsafe acts or conditions immediately.
4. Coordination
- Coordinate with engineers, surveyors, and other site supervisors.
- Ensure timely availability of materials and equipment on-site.
- Liaise with subcontractors and utility coordinators for schedule alignment.
5. Quality Assurance
- Check alignment, levels, slope, and compaction as per specifications.
- Assist in conducting tests (e.g., pressure test for water/gas, air test for sewer).
- Verify correct installation of pipes, ducts, and manholes.
6. Inspection and Handover
- Assist engineers during inspections by authorities (PUB, SP, Gas, etc.).
- Prepare the site for inspection by clearing, cleaning, and ensuring all works are complete.
- Rectify minor defects immediately and report major issues to the site engineer.
7. Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain daily work progress reports and submit them to the site engineer.
- Record labor, machinery hours, and material usage daily.
- Keep records of inspections, tests, and any site instructions given.
8. Problem Solving
- Identify and report any clashes or obstructions (e.g., existing utilities).
- Propose practical site-level solutions and coordinate with the engineer for approvals.
- Handle minor site issues and make decisions to avoid delays.
