Job summary

A leading healthcare organization in Saudi Arabia seeks a qualified Dialysis Nurse to provide individualized nursing care and administer dialysis treatments. Candidates must hold a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and have at least three years of experience in nursing, ideally in dialysis. Responsibilities include the initiation and management of dialysis treatments, compliance with health and safety regulations, and effective communication with patients and families. Monitor compliance with legislative requirements and organization polices and procedure and take appropriate action to correct any area of non-compliance

Perform holistic Basic & Bedside patient Care.

Resolves personnel concerns at the departmental level, utilizing the grievance process as required.

Integrates Trans-cultural principles into nursing care

Ensures compliance with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire, safety and infection control.

Reports any negative, abnormal or unexpected event / incident as soon as possible after its occurrence by filling the Electronic Occurrence Variance Report (EOVR).

I. Serves as a role model and preceptor for the RRTU department

II. Ensure orders, receives, secures, monitors, and accounts for drugs, and related supplies and administers and dispenses drugs to established policies, procedures, and nursing protocols.

III. Displays professionalism while completing multiple urgent tasks in a timely manner

IV. Assists in the monitoring, procurement and proper inventory of supplies. Assists in maintaining equipment.

V. Contribute to the development and maintenance of professional nursing standards, reporting divergences from them to the shift leader.

VI. Self-motivated and able to make decisions independently keeping physician, department manager and appropriate others informed and supporting hospital philosophy and decisions.

VII. Attend annual (or more frequent) appraisal.

Education :

I. Provide education to patients, families, regarding medical and / or surgical procedure

III. Demonstrate the mandatory competencies of the RCMC nursing division

Dialysis Nurse provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles.

Initiate and terminate dialysis treatments safely and efficiently.

Set up and operate dialysis machines according to established protocols.

Primes dialyzer and bloodlines Records patients’ medical information and vital signs

Cannulates vascular accesses, Readies dialysis equipment, Secures blood works.

Oversees the dialysis treatment from initiation to termination

Demonstrates the ability to remove femoral sheaths & administer medications, including thrombolytic.

Cleans and dresses permanent and temporary catheters

Monitors patient and adjusts specialized equipment used on patients, and interprets and records Information

Identifies irregular dialysis reactions and notifies appropriate medical team members

Teaches patients and significant others how to manage their illness.

Performs therapeutic nursing interventions as established by individualized plan of care.

Provides individualized patient / family education.

Documents patient assessment findings, physical / psychosocial responses to nursing intervention and progress towards problem resolution.

Prepares, administers and records medications. Reports adverse reactions regarding the administration of medications according to the policy.

Maintains proper supplies and appropriate medical equipment to care for patients.

Records all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms.

Administer medications and intravenous fluids as prescribed by the nephrologist.

Arrange for patient transfer to other departments and, complete required documentation

Practicing infection control methods / protocols.

Reading and interpreting patient charts; Detecting unusual patient behavior related to specific health conditions; Assist with the orientation of new employees to the department.

Supervise and provide nursing students / intern’s opportunities to observe and learn.

Initiates emergency resuscitative measures according to adult resuscitation protocols.

Provides care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to the adult or elderly patient’s and family’s diversity.

The RRTU staff nurse is expected to have knowledge of all equipment used in the area.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including dialysis treatment records, nursing assessments, and patient progress notes.
