OVERALL JOB PURPOSE
The purpose of the job is to study the composition, structure, and other physical aspects of the Earth, applying geological, physics, and mathematics knowledge, and provide original and innovative solutions in exploration of metals and minerals within the Geoscience discipline. This would include the execution of grade control and resource evaluation programmes. The incumbent will contribute as a Geologist in the execution of programmes and will contribute to the compliance of health and safety in programmes in accordance with statutory legal requirements and Ma'aden HSE standards and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree in Earth Science related discipline
- Eligible for registration as a professional geologist
Experience
- 2 years' experience as Geologist
- Experience in open pit and/or underground mine geology
Skills
- Understanding of health and safety risks and safe operating procedures in operations [essential] in remote desert environment [desirable]
- Senior first aid certificate [essential]
- Demonstrable commitment to health and safety
- Working knowledge of targeted mineral deposit types
- Computer literacy in Office suites including MS Project and Team as well as mining software e.g. Acquire, ArcGIS, ioGas, Leapfrog, Vulcan, MicroMine, Surpac, Datamine
- Competence in data management and QAQC
- Knowledge of ore control practices and ability to implement best industry standards if required
- Business and Technical report writing
- Understanding of the reporting of Mineral Resources in accordance with JORC Code 2012 (desirable)
- Resource estimation methodology
- Verbal, written, analytical and influencing skills in English

Drilling & Evaluation
- Execute drilling programs in line with operational requirements
- Execution of grade control drilling programs with the aim of continually improving geological modelling, grade control processes and resource and estimation modelling
- Contribute to the reconciliation between mine production, mineral resource and mineral reserves
- Active in the execution of drilling programs that add to the mineral resource, replenish ore reserve depletion and identify possible near‑mine targets
- Involved in ranking near‑mine drilling targets and the strategic direction of any near‑mine exploration activities
- Execute drilling and evaluation programmes
- Analyse, interpret and report programme results, data QAQC drilling programmes
- Evaluate near‑mine exploration targets including target ranking
- Provide technical advice to the Chief Geologist, Principal Geologist, Geology Manager and Senior Director Geology, and direction to mine geologists, geotechnicians
- Apply current industry best practice in grade control practices, mapping, geological modelling, reconciliation and QAQC
- Self‑consistently meet targets, due dates and quality standards (production, service, advice, etc.)
- Ensure knowledge and compliance with health, safety and environment statutory and regulatory requirements
- Ensure knowledge and compliance with applicable Ma'aden HSE codes, policies, procedures and practices
