Responsibilities
- Review process design package, calculations, process scheme and vendor documentation.
- Supervision of subcontract activities at site on behalf of Client.
- Support Client in routine project proceedings and activities.
- Progress reporting and tracking.
- Act as the main liaison between contractor(s) and the home office engineering; provide technical / engineering support and advice to Construction; respond to technical issues through RFIs; review technical documents; and follow up to rectify gaps or problems.
- Participate in field site reviews prior to the start of construction activities and verify documentation is available for construction start.
- Coordinate technical approvals of all General Contractor’s submittal documentation with Engineering.
- Input and review of all temporary works (e.g., crane pads, open excavations, trenches, platforms; excluding scaffolding reviewed by SME).
- Coordinate and monitor design document issuance to ensure continuity of construction activities.
- Review and respond to field RFIs; prepare, submit and follow up RFIs concerning their field of expertise.
- Provide technical support to Field Personnel and Contractors regarding interpretation of design documents and procedures within their field of experience.
- Provide technical assistance to QA/QC and Project Controls to ensure contractors and suppliers satisfy all technical requirements for their scopes.
- Provide constructability input to engineering as directed by Construction Manager.
- Provide technical input, review and complete all Field Change Notices, Non-Conformance and RFI reports.
- Participate as Technical Expert during audits for discipline-related activities; review and comment on contractor’s method statements.
- Identify and elevate potential changes in contract scope.
- Provide Construction Engineering input to the Project Completion Report; support control at site, technical approvals and problem resolution; monitor development of “As Built” drawings.
- Provide spot surveillance of craft discipline to ensure high quality workmanship; audit contractor’s ‘As-Built’ drawing records.
- Where necessary, provide off-site support.
Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training
Qualifications
- Technical and Industry Experience: Candidate should have design engineering experience on similar projects as a HVAC Field engineer, leading to appropriate technical knowledge of field engineering; preferably in Mining & Industry.
- Highly effective technical and practical engineering skills and ability to consistently deliver quality, accurate and timely work to Worley and its customers.
- A sound knowledge of the fundamental requirements of mechanical engineering, and the basic requirements of other engineering fields.
- A sound knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Competent use of mechanical engineering specific software.
- Competent use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite.
- Substantial technical and practical experience in mechanical engineering in the same or similar industry, including experience working in multi-disciplinary projects and teams.
- A recognized degree in the relevant engineering discipline or equivalent.
Preferred
- Undertaking Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status.
