Job summary

A structural steel fabrication company in Riyadh is seeking an experienced Welding Inspector. This role focuses on ensuring quality in steel fabrication processes, emphasizing hands-on inspection rather than desk work. Ideal candidates should possess CSWIP 3.1 certification, with 3.2 or 3.3 preferred, and a proven background in fabrication yards. The position requires familiarity with welding standards and strong skills in visual inspection and quality management.

Qualifications

  • Strong working knowledge of welding processes.
  • Experience in NDT coordination and report review.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect various steel structures including beams and columns.
  • Conduct visual inspection and NCR issuance.
  • Review welding deviations and repair methods.

Job description
Welding Inspector (CSWIP 3.1 / 3.2 / 3.3) – Structural Steel Fabrication

We are hiring an experienced Welding Inspector for structural steel fabrication works. This role is for inspectors with real fabrication yard experience, not desk‑only inspection.

Certification Requirement
  • CSWIP 3.1 – Minimum
  • CSWIP 3.2 or CSWIP 3.3 – Strongly Preferred
Key Experience Required
  • Proven experience in steel structures fabrication, including:
  • Beams, columns, plates, bracing, built‑up sections
  • Strong hands‑on inspection experience in an active fabrication yard
  • Solid working knowledge of:
    • WPS / PQR / WPQ
    • Welding processes: SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, SAW
  • Ability to read and interpret:
    • Structural shop drawings
    • Welding symbols
    • ITPs and quality plans
  • Experience with:
    • Visual inspection
    • Fit‑up and root pass inspection
    • Final weld inspection
    • NCR issuance and follow‑up
    • NDT coordination and report review
Preferred (High‑Value Candidates)
  • CSWIP 3.2 or CSWIP 3.3
  • Ability to technically review or support:
    • WPS / PQR evaluations
    • Welding deviations and repair methods
  • Experience working with:
    • Consultants
    • EPC contractors
    • Third‑party inspectors
  • Familiarity with international standards:
    • AWS D1.1
    • AISC
    • ISO 3834
Added Advantage
  • Coating / painting inspection experience, including:
    • Surface preparation & blasting
    • DFT measurement
    • Environmental condition checks
    • Knowledge of SSPC / NACE / BGAS or equivalent coating standards
