Job description
Summary

Responsible for providing services and advice in both routine and specialty laboratory areas such as Biochemistry, Microbiology, Hematology, etc. including updates and introducing new technology.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties
  1. Reviews, tests, implements, and updates techniques that will enhance the performance of the section.
  2. Develops and introduces newer techniques with research and clinical application. Trains Medical Technologists in the performance of new techniques.
  3. Develops teaching materials and periodically update these for teaching of Fellows, Residents, and Medical Technologists.
  4. Provides guidance and training in performing and troubleshooting more complex procedures.
  5. Ensures and implements proper quality control and procedures for each newly introduced test.
  6. Reviews literature periodically and gives necessary assistance for Consultant Pathologists, Fellows, and Senior Residents when help is needed during publications.
  7. Performs technical duties as assigned including weekends, night shifts, and on call coverage.
  8. Review and modify section policies, procedures and protocols. Establish a continuous quality improvement program in accordance with CBAHI, JCI, CAP, SFDA and other international accreditation agencies standards.
  9. Participates in and contributes to quality improvement activities.
Education

Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Medical or Laboratory Technology, or other related discipline is required.

Experience Required

Four (4) years of related experience with Master's Degree or six (6) years with Bachelor's Degree is required.

Other Requirements (Certificates)

Current Registration from country of origin and Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) is required.

Registration in MT (ASCP), CLS (NCA) or equivalent specialist for American, Advanced Registered Technologist (ART) or Registered Technologist (RT) for Canadian, or FIMLS or AIMLS for British or NZIMLT for New Zealander or MSMLT for Malaysian or equivalent in country of origin is required.
