Job Title: Mechanical Project Engineer – Junior Level
Sector: Data Centre / Mission Critical Projects (preferred)
Key Responsibilities:
Design Review & Coordination
- Assist in reviewing the IFC MEP mechanical design package (HVAC, chilled water systems, plumbing, drainage, fire suppression, etc.).
- Support the team in confirming that drawings and specifications comply with local regulations (NWC, Saudi Building Code, Dubai Municipality, Civil Defence, etc. as per region), relevant standards, and client requirements.
- Provide daily technical assistance to the BIM team during preparation and coordination of mechanical shop drawings and schematics.
- Help perform checks on shop drawings, schedules, and calculations prior to consultant submission.
- Prepare and track Requests for Information (RFIs) for design clarifications.
- Attend internal and external MEP coordination meetings.
Submittals & Procurement Support
- Assist in preparing and compiling material/technical submittals for electrical equipment and systems.
- Follow up on consultant comments and help prepare re-submissions in a timely manner.
- Support the extraction and verification of Material Take-Offs (MTOs) from Revit models.
- Help prepare Material Requisitions (MRs) and basic RFQs for the Procurement department.
- Coordinate with QA/QC and stores to ensure only approved materials reach site.
Site Engineering & Supervision
- Monitor daily mechanical installation works against approved drawings and report progress or deviations.
- Assist in issuing the latest approved drawings to site supervisors and retrieving superseded versions.
- Provide on-site support to supervisors and foremen for technical queries.
- Promptly raise and elevate installation or coordination issues to the Intermediate/Senior Engineer.
- Coordinate mechanical builders’ work requirements (openings, plinths, supports) with other trades.
Planning, Quality & Safety
- Provide regular electrical progress updates to the Planning & Controls team.
- Assist in preparing and following up on Material Inspection Requests (MIRs) and Work Inspection Requests (WIRs).
- Strictly follow all safety procedures, permit-to-work systems, LOTO, and project HSE requirements.
- Actively participate in toolbox talks and safety initiatives.
- Help the QA/QC team document any damage to installed electrical systems.
Commissioning & Handover
- Assist the Commissioning team and vendors during system testing, balancing, and client witnessing.
- Support the preparation of handover documentation (O&M manuals, spare parts lists, as-built mark-ups).
- Help the BIM team with red-line mark-ups and site verification for final As-Built drawings.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering from a recognized university.
- 1–3 years of relevant experience (site or design office) – exceptional fresh graduates with strong internships/co-op placements will also be considered.
- Good foundational knowledge of HVAC, chilled water, plumbing, drainage, and fire-fighting systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit is highly advantageous.
- Understanding of Middle East codes and authority requirements is beneficial.
- Strong English communication skills and a genuine eagerness to learn.
