Job Purpose

To lead the shop drawings, coordination, material selection & approval process for electrical work from start to finish, ensuring all designs meet client requirements, are safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing, and overseeing the development of detailed construction plans.

Key Accountability Areas

1. Drafting and Development: Draft electrical systems and components using (Revit) and specialized design tools. Develop detailed drawings, schematics, and specifications.
2. Electrical Systems Design: Be familiar with electrical systems for buildings, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, security, and control systems.
3. Compliance and Regulation: Ensure compliance with relevant electrical codes, standards, and regulations such as NEC, IBC, and local building and safety codes.
4. Collaboration: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, architects, contractors, and clients, to coordinate electrical design activities.
5. Load Calculations and Analysis: Conduct load calculations and electrical system analysis to ensure proper sizing and performance, considering factors like voltage drop, short-circuit currents, and fault protection.
6. Quality Control: Review and verify the accuracy of electrical drawings to meet project requirements and quality standards.
7. Problem-solving: Identify and resolve technical issues or discrepancies in electrical designs, working closely with the engineering team.
8. Construction Support: Provide support during construction by responding to RFIs, clarifying design intent, and reviewing submittals and shop drawings.
9. Communication: Communicate effectively with internal teams and external vendors to convey technical information and address concerns related to electrical drawings.
10. Project Coordination: Assist in project coordination by providing timely updates on electrical drawings and collaborating to meet deadlines.
11. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, advancements, and emerging technologies in electrical design, seeking opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, and effectiveness.

Role Accountability

1. System Layout and Configuration: Responsible for laying out electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, communication, and control systems.
2. Detailing and Annotation: Ensure drawings are properly annotated with dimensions, notes, and symbols.
3. Creating Shop Drawings: Create accurate and detailed drawings, including schematics, circuit diagrams, wiring diagrams using software such as AutoCAD, REVIT, Etap, and other specialized tools.
4. Component Selection and Specification: Research, evaluate, and select electrical components, equipment, and materials based on project requirements, performance, and cost, in collaboration with procurement.
5. Documentation and Reporting: Prepare technical reports, design documentation, and engineering drawings to communicate specifications, procedures, and findings.
6. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure designs comply with industry standards, building codes, safety regulations, and certification requirements.
7. Quality Assurance and Review: Conduct quality assurance reviews of designs for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
8. Client Communication and Support: Provide technical support to clients, contractors, and internal teams throughout project phases.
9. Drafting Electrical Plans: Create and review detailed electrical drawings, plans, and diagrams using REVIT.
10. Interpreting Specifications: Review technical specifications and design documents to ensure compliance.
11. Ensuring Accuracy: Check drawings for accuracy, including dimensions and symbols, and correct discrepancies.
12. Updating Drawings: Revise and update electrical drawings as needed.
13. Maintaining Documentation: Organize and maintain a library of drawings and project files.
14. Adhering to Safety Standards: Ensure drawings meet safety and building code regulations.

Academic Qualification

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant field.
