Qualifications

Description

Job Purpose / Objective

To lead, plan, and manage all activities related to surface preparation, blasting, coating, and painting of hull blocks, ensuring that production targets, quality standards, safety requirements, and project schedules are achieved in accordance with IMI procedures and client specifications.

Key Accountabilities
  • Management & Planning
  • Develop annual and monthly production plans for block painting operations.
  • Ensure effective manpower, equipment, and material allocation to meet project schedules.
  • Coordinate with Planning, Production, QC, and HSE departments for seamless workflow.
  • Review and approve work schedules, productivity reports, and resource utilization data.
  • Operational Control - Supervise and guide Superintendents, Supervisors, and Foremen in daily operations.
  • Ensure surface preparation and coating activities comply with IMO, ISO 12944, NACE, and project specifications.
  • Monitor progress of ongoing projects, identifying bottlenecks and implementing corrective actions.
  • Lead troubleshooting for coating defects and implement preventive actions.
  • Quality Assurance & Safety - Ensure strict adherence to company QA/QC and HSE standards.
  • Review inspection test plans (ITP), paint material certifications, and quality records.
  • Promote a safety culture within the department and ensure compliance with all safety regulations.
  • Leadership & Cost Control
  • Prepare and control the division budget, ensuring cost efficiency and productivity.
  • Evaluate consumable and tool usage, implementing cost‑saving initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
Education

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Marine Engineering (or equivalent).

Requirements

Professional Qualifications (Certifications & Accreditations)

  • Preferred certified painting operator by NACE/SSPC/FROSIO or other organizations.
Preferred certified NACE CIP Level 2 Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
  • Knowledge of ISO 12944, IMO PSPC, SSPC, and relevant coating standards.
  • Understanding of blasting, coating systems, environmental controls, and QA/QC inspection processes.
  • Strong planning and leadership skills
  • Excellent communication, analytical thinking, and problem‑solving ability.
Experience

Minimum 9 – 12 years of experience in industrial/marine painting, including at least 5 years in managerial or supervisory role.

Languages

Good Communication Skills (oral and written) in the English Language.
