Woodston Personnel is seeking an experienced and board-certified Consultant Trauma Surgeon to join the surgical team of a leading hospital in Saudi Arabia. The Consultant provides expert surgical care for patients presenting with major trauma and acute surgical emergencies. The role includes leading trauma resuscitations, performing operative and non-operative management of injuries, providing inpatient care, and contributing to trauma system development, teaching, research, and quality improvement initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the attending surgeon for trauma cases, leading trauma team activations and managing severely injured patients according to ATLS principles and institutional protocols.
- Perform operative and non‑operative management of traumatic injuries involving the chest, abdomen, pelvis, soft tissues, and vascular structures within the surgeon’s scope of practice.
- Provide acute care surgery services for emergency general surgical conditions when required.
- Collaborate with orthopedic, neurosurgery, vascular, critical care, emergency medicine, radiology, anesthesiology, and rehabilitation teams for coordinated trauma care.
- Participate in trauma call rotation, ensuring 24/7 consultant‑level support for major trauma cases.
- Oversee trauma ICU and ward management, including postoperative care, complication management, and discharge planning.
- Review and interpret imaging, laboratory tests, and other diagnostics relevant to trauma care.
- Lead and support trauma team activities, ensuring high standards of communication, efficiency, and patient safety during resuscitation and operative care.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of trauma protocols, pathways, and clinical guidelines.
- Participate in trauma service planning, performance improvement programs, and accreditation efforts (e.g., Level I/II trauma center requirements).
- Engage in interdepartmental and regional trauma networks to optimize system‑wide trauma care.
- Supervise and mentor surgical residents, fellows, junior doctors, and other trainees involved in trauma and acute‑care surgery.
- Provide bedside teaching, case reviews, and formal teaching sessions on trauma management.
- Support ongoing professional development of trauma nurses, paramedics, and allied health professionals.
- Deliver clear, compassionate communication to patients and families regarding injuries, procedures, prognosis, and rehabilitation.
- Work closely with social workers, case managers, and rehabilitation teams to support recovery and discharge planning.
- Ensure thorough documentation and communication of care plans across all levels of the trauma team.
- Participate in trauma‑related research, clinical trials, and academic activities.
- Contribute to audit processes, morbidity and mortality reviews, and performance‑improvement initiatives.
- Maintain and support accurate data entry into trauma registries and use data to drive service enhancement.
- Promote evidence‑based practice and integration of emerging technologies and techniques.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical records.
- Participate in departmental meetings, trauma governance committees, and multidisciplinary case conferences.
- Contribute to policy development, service planning, and risk‑management activities.
- Assist with rota management and departmental administrative duties as required.

Qualifications and Requirements
MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
US Board/FRCS – Irish, UK, Canadian, New Zealand or Australian/Diploma d'Etudes Specialises (DES)/CIS French Board/Fachär & Sub‑Board/Fellowship/Board/Fellowship/Sweden/Belgium/Finland/Spain
Must have at least 3‑5 years of post‑consultant or senior specialist experience
Eligible for consultant licensure with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS)
