Job summary
A legal consultancy firm in Johor Bahru is seeking a Legal Executive to provide legal advisory, manage contracts, and ensure compliance with regulations in marine, customs, logistics, and telecommunications. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of Malaysian corporate law, at least 2 years of relevant experience, and excellent negotiation skills. Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of legal practice or in-house counsel experience.
- Strong knowledge of Malaysian corporate, commercial, and employment law.
- Familiarity with marine/shipping or telecom law is an advantage.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with vendors and partners.
- Ensure compliance with maritime law and customs regulations.
- Advise on corporate governance matters for subsidiaries.
- Handle disputes and liaise with external legal counsel.
- Maintain legal documentation, licenses, and statutory filings.
Skills
Education
The Legal Executive will provide legal advisory, manage contracts, and ensure compliance with regulations governing marine, customs, logistics, and telecommunications operations. This role requires strong knowledge of corporate law, contracts, and industry-specific compliance frameworks.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with vendors, partners, and regulators.
- Ensure compliance with maritime law, port authority guidelines, customs regulations, and MCMC licensing rules.
- Advise on corporate governance matters for holdings and subsidiaries.
- Handle disputes, litigation processes, and liaise with external legal counsel.
- Maintain legal documentation, licenses, and statutory filings.
- Provide legal guidance on business expansion, mergers, or acquisitions.
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of legal practice or in-house counsel experience.
- Strong knowledge of Malaysian corporate, commercial, and employment law.
- Familiarity with marine/shipping or telco law will be a significant advantage.
- Excellent research, drafting, and negotiation skills.
- Strong communication skills to liaise with government and regulatory agencies.
- Ability to handle multi-jurisdictional legal matters.
