Overview

This new position is being created to establish oversight and management of all risks across Element Mexico. While Financial risks are currently managed by the respective Credit and Finance teams, other enterprise risks lack governance and oversight. The new CRO will partner with the relevant local and global leaders to develop and implement a robust local risk management framework that addresses all financial and non-financial risks. The new CRO is expected to adapt the risk management operating model to incorporate improved data management and risk reporting, embrace AI as a productivity partner, and implement a more efficient risk review and approval process to support continued business growth while maintaining discipline with our risk appetite in Mexico.

Responsibilities
  • Implements and evolves strategies to identify, assess, mitigate and monitor risks across the business, while supporting growth objectives with a client-centric and continuous improvement mindset, including approvals (under delegated authority) and/or recommendations for approval of transactions, policy or risk appetite updates, or operating model changes.
  • Develops and maintains positive constructive relationships with internal stakeholders and external clients – including collaboration with local and group executive leadership, and cross-functional leaders and teams, to align risk management strategies with business objectives, ensuring resilience with sustainable growth in a rapidly evolving risk landscape while ensuring adherence to risk appetite.
  • Ensures all business activities adhere to relevant regulations and company policies.
  • Leads and mentors the risk team and colleagues across our various business functions, fostering a high-performance culture of risk awareness and ownership.
Qualifications
  • Extensive Risk Management experience; 15+ yrs in progressive (financial & non-financial) senior risk roles
  • Knowledge of the external local environment (risk, regulatory, geopolitical, competitor, etc.)
  • Proven ability to lead teams and influence across internal / external key stakeholders
  • Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Finance, Business or related field
  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation/communication skills and demonstrable ability to effectively interface with senior management, external stakeholders, and team members
