About the role

As a Technology Area Manager Papermaking, you will play a key role in Essity’s Central Technology team, supporting global papermaking projects. This is a hands‑on technical support role focused on translating operational needs into robust engineering solutions. You will work closely with manufacturing sites, vendors, and internal stakeholders to deliver high‑impact projects that improve efficiency, safety, and sustainability.

What you will do
  • Project Execution & Technical Support: Lead multiple papermaking technology projects from preparation through to performance validation, ensuring alignment with site needs and vendor capabilities.
  • Vendor Collaboration & Scope Definition: Translate operational challenges into best‑in‑class technical specifications, review and align vendor quotations, and support sourcing during negotiations to ensure fit‑for‑purpose solutions.
  • Design Review & Startup Oversight: Lead design reviews, validate operability, maintainability, and safety, and provide on‑site support during startup phases to ensure successful implementation.
  • Technology Feasibility & Risk Management: Conduct feasibility studies, identify and mitigate risks (e.g. using FMEA), and ensure manufacturability and cost‑efficiency in all development stages.
  • Capex & Specification Development: Prepare Capex inputs and define Technology Requirement Specifications to secure well‑defined equipment delivery and investment clarity.
  • Supplier Development: Steer and develop external suppliers to ensure technical capability and alignment with Essity’s standards.
  • Performance Monitoring: Follow up on project outcomes to ensure vendor guarantees are met and continuous improvements are achieved.
  • Coaching & Knowledge Sharing: Coach, and train engineers and project team members to build internal capability and share best practices across sites.
Who you are
  • University degree in Mechanical, Papermaking, Chemical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Proven track record in papermaking, process engineering, or vendor‑side project roles, with demonstrated ability to lead complex technical projects in a manufacturing or industrial papermaking environment.
  • Skilled in using Microsoft 365, AutoCAD and 3D modelling tools (e.g., Navisworks, eDrawings).
  • Strong communicator and collaborator with the ability to influence, think critically, and adapt to diverse cultural and technical contexts.
  • Availability to travel; relocation not requested.
  • Fluent in English. All applicants are requested to deliver their CV in English language.
