Responsible for engineering IFE projects within the Systems Installation group from a wiring and seat integration design standpoint; encompassing systems integration to installation. The role involves engineering, designing, and developing system installation packages based on customer, regulatory, and OEM requirements for both production and retrofit applications. The position has specific technical responsibility for projector products.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Systems Installation Group in project execution.
- Collaborate with Program Management, Certification, Marketing, and other departments to coordinate program requirements.
- Assist in planning, customer meetings, preliminary design reviews (PDR), critical design reviews (CDR), First Article Inspections (FAI), aircraft surveys, and installations.
- Review products and provide feedback to Senior Engineers and Management.
- Coordinate design requirements and review applications for existing programs.
- Work with external engineering groups to integrate third-party vendor equipment with our systems.
- Provide technical guidance to team members.
- Engineer, design, and develop system installation packages.
- Utilize AutoCAD, BricsCAD, Siemens, or equivalent tools for designing wiring diagrams, cable assemblies, seat configurations, and installation drawings.
- Contribute to drafting of systems design criteria to support aircraft installations.
- Guide Drafters in problem-solving and design standards development per customer and regulatory requirements.
- Produce engineering documentation for seat installation to meet airline customer specifications.
Minimum Qualifications
- BSEE or relevant engineering discipline.
- 5-10 years of electrical/seat design experience in the aircraft industry.
- Strong understanding of airline regulatory guidelines and aircraft wiring design requirements.
- Knowledge of avionics parts used in designing and manufacturing cable assemblies and sheet metal brackets, including connectors, contacts, wire types, and materials.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, CATIA, PRO-E, or similar design software.
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal (90% proficiency).
- Willingness to travel up to 25% domestically or internationally for meetings and program reviews.
